Sea Otter Dirt Jumper

Why open source a bike frame?

Most bike frames are locked behind big brands, patents, NDAs, and exclusive industry knowledge. That gatekeeping makes it hard for new builders and designers,  especially young ones like me, to learn how frames are actually made.

I’m not planning to open source every frame I build, but this one is different.

This version was built to learn, and now I’m sharing it so others can do the same. Whether you're a student, hobbyist, or just curious how a bonded frame works, I want this project to be something you can study, build from, or improve. It’s not perfect, and that’s the point. It’s a starting place.

By making this frame open source, I’m hoping to lower the barrier for others to explore frame building without needing a full shop, engineering degree, or thousands of dollars.
